October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the annual Chipola Breast Cancer Awareness Symposium is set for 5:30 PM, Thursday, October 17th, at the Assembly of God District Activity Center, 4792 Highway 90, East of Marianna. This year's theme perpetuates the three virtues of faith, hope, and love for survivors. The "sure-to-be-a-sellout" event is an educational program where women's health is honored and leading-edge scientific developments on the prevention and treatment of breast cancer are discussed.

This year's program speakers are Kirby I. Bland, M.D., Senior Advisor to the Director of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, Ricky P. Leff, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. Obstetrics / Gynecology Women's Healthcare of the Panhandle, and Teresa Goodpaster, M.D. - General Surgery - Chipola Surgical Associates.

Sponsors who make possible this tuition-free event include: Jackson Hospital; North Florida Cancer Care; the Florida Department of Health Jackson County; the Jackson Hospital Foundation, Marianna Toyota, Rahal-Miller, Oglesby Plants International, Jackson County Times and the multiple community sponsors.

If you would like more information about this topic, contact Lanet James (850) 209-2834 or Kathryn Jordan at Jackson Hospital, (850) 718-2661.
